Sudan is facing one of the world’s most acute humanitarian crises. Ongoing violent conflict has displaced more than 12 million people and left over 24 million in acute food insecurity, while access to aid is repeatedly blocked by armed actors. At the same time, reliable data from the areas most affected remain scarce – yet such evidence is essential for understanding the war’s impact and shaping effective responses. This panel will explore what we already know about the impact of the conflict, existing programmes in Sudan, and the evidence gaps that must be filled to inform policy and design more impactful humanitarian and development interventions.
